CLUSTER
A Windows 2003 cluster is available at the College of Engineering. The cluster is made up of 8 Dell PowerEdge 2650 servers. Each server has dual 2.4GHz Xeon processors and 1GB of RAM for a total of 16 processors and 8GB of RAM. Various engineering programs are used on the cluster to solve complex problems quickly versus time consumption using a regular desktop computer. The Windows 2003 cluster has a very easy to use web interface that allows users to enter data without having to know the complex intricacies of the cluster itself. Once the cluster is through running a job, it notifies the end user via an email and places the data in their personal folder. Data from the cluster can also be brought into the CAVE to visually interpret complex data sets.
