It
is an enormously exciting time to be an engineer--a dynamic
career that builds on the rigors of science and mathematics to
invent new technology, solve critical problems, and create
wealth for society. The scope of this profession encompasses
nearly every level of human imagination--from nano-machinery
to citywide structures, from operation of living cells to
global climate modeling, from vehicles that will take us
across town to vehicles that will take us to Mars.
You
can begin this journey toward such a future at the Southern
University College of Engineering. Our tradition of excellence
in education, coupled with outstanding stimulating and
friendly educational and research environment, serves over 900
engineering students who have access to the latest equipment
in modern facilities. The faculty have widely-varied technical
interests, but share the common goal of educating the best
engineers possible.
The College offers baccalaureate
degrees in civil engineering, electrical engineering,
electronics engineering technology, mechanical engineering,
and a master's of engineering with five specialty options. A
few of the many areas of study and research provided by the
College's departments include environmental engineering,
computer engineering, microelectronics, manufacturing,
mechanical design, structural engineering, heat transfer, and
materials engineering. On behalf of the Southern University
