Statement of Departmental Purpose

Mission

The department is committed to providing its students with a high quality education, which will enable them to successfully compete globally in at least four of the major discipline areas of civil engineering, and to engage in advanced graduate study, while making significant contributions to society.

Vision

The department will be a premier values-based department, committed to excellence in preparing students for success in civil engineering through research, experience-based instruction, and community service under the direction of a highly qualified and customer-oriented faculty and staff.

Goal

The goal is to prepare students for professional careers in industry or public service, to motivate them to pursue advanced degrees, and to continue their education throughout their professional lives.
