The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate curriculum is designed to prepare students who can consequently compete favorably in their professions. The curriculum, as shown in these pages, constitutes of a common freshman year with other engineering departments in the College of Engineering. The mechanical engineering courses taken in the sophomore and junior years are analytical and design oriented. The design oriented courses are assessed based on open-ended problems, team work, hands-on, multidisciplinary, and communication skills, and are designed to be taken also in the senior year.
